Funding boost for Kennoway
Kennoway has been chosen to take part in the Coalfields Community Futures programme from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.
The village has been selected for the ambitious regeneration programme by the Trust, which will “provide expertise, direct hands-on support and funding” to the village over the coming years.
The programme will seek to engage with local residents and community groups to prepare a five-year community action plan.
And, as well as a participatory budget of £20,000 available for what has been termed “soon, seen, successful” initiatives, the Coalfields Regeneration trust will also offer further support for the village to make funding applications for larger-scale, long-term projects.
Local MSP Jenny Gilruth, who submitted a motion to Holyrood on the issue, described Kennoway’s selection as “fantastic news”.
“Far too often, smaller communities in Scotland don’t receive the same level of attention as larger population centres, so I’m delighted that Kennoway has been chosen for the Coalfields Community Futures programme,” she said.
“This programme will offer significant funding and support to the local community, which I know will be of a huge benefit.
“I’m excited to see how the programme develops and look forward to engaging with the community groups on their projects.”
