Clark feels like he’d been floored by Mayweather

-

Dazed Zander Clark feels like he was floored by super fight rivals Floyd Mayweather or Conor McGregor.

The St Johnstone keeper was knocked out in the 3-0 weekend win over Sunderland and had to be rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee by ambulance.

And while a scan gave him the all-clear, he’s been ordered to rest up for the next seven days.

That rules him out of Saturday’s friendly with Hartlepool.

“I will be sore for a few days but thankfully the CT scan showed there was nothing to worry about internally,” Clark said.

“I felt as if I had been in the middle of the Mayweather/McGregor scrap. It was murder trying to get comfy in bed. My head was pounding and the neck is still stiff.

“But it was a relief when the scan showed up nothing serious and I was allowed to go home.

“The medical team here and the staff at Ninewells were brilliant with me. I was well looked after.

“My fiancé Robyn picked me up and it was a long journey home. I felt every bump in the road.

“We were meant to be going out for a bite to eat and a couple of drinks. It was to be the first night out after getting engaged on holiday over the summer.

“But obviously those plans had to be scrapped. At least I had a decent excuse for cancelling it and she has been great running around looking after me.”

Clark has little recollection of the accidental clash with Black Cats star Jack Rodwell.

He said: “I just remember sliding in at the boy’s feet and his knee caught me on the head. Jack came into the treatment room to see if I was OK before I went to hospital. That was a nice touch.”

Meanwhile young forward Callum Hendry scored the only goal to give St Johnstone a closed-doors win over Rangers yesterday.
