Caledonian Marts Ltd sold 143 cattle comprising 88 prime bullocks, heifers and young bulls, and 55 cast cows and bulls. More than 30 cattle sold in excess of 240ppkg, well ahead of many deadweight centres. Prime Bullocks ave – 225ppkg. Prime Heifers ave – 235ppkg. Young Bulls ave – 212ppkg. Beef Cows ave – 140ppkg. Dairy Cows ave –112ppkg. Bullocks sold to 250ppkg on three occasions for a Limousin from Moorfield and two British Blues from Classlochie, Kinross and Brockwoodlees, and to £1664 from Todhall, Cupar. Heifers sold to 252ppkg for a Limousin from Faskine and to £1663 from Moorfield. Young Bulls to 222ppkg for a Limousin from Balfornaught, Stirling, and to £1503 for a Simmental from Kincaple Farms, St Andrews. Bullocks ppkg; 248p (twice) Brockwoodlees & Easter Ochtermuthill; 242p (twice) Bankhead (Kerr) and Mains of Cultmalundie; 240p Classlochie, Mains of Cultmalundie & Easter Ochtermuthill. Heifers ppkg; 250p Bankhead, Easter Ochtermuthill and Brockwoodlees; 248p Brockwoodlees, Faskine, Moorfield and Classlochie; 245p (twice) Easter Ochtermuthill, Moorfield and Bankhead. Young Bulls 218p Bolfournought; 215p Upper Spittalton and Oatfield. Also forward were 55 Cast Cows and Bulls. Beef Cows ave 140ppkg selling to 168.4ppkg for a Charolais from Nether Carse and to £1630 for the same beast. Dairy Cows ave 112ppkg selling to 147.6ppkg from Blyth Farms, Dysart, and to £960 from Meldrum, Stirling.
