Big Fish Little Fish
Reading Rooms, Dundee, July 23
It’s the ultimate day out for the generation of parents who still love their clubbing but normally have to rely on babysitters in order to have a decent night out. Big Fish Little Fish (BFLF) is the award-winning family fun day which has been helping parents be “responsibly irresponsible” with family raving since 2013.
Making its debut in Dundee, BFLF is having a Once Upon a Time themed rave and encouraging everyone to dress up in clothes they would have worn at the most outrageous time of their younger lives. Helping to make it a special day is Alan Dobson, a veteran DJ and promoter well known in Dundee as a resident at the Rhumba Club.
He is quarterly resident at Musika, but Dundee clubbers know him as also being resident and promoter of Spektrum, a monthly club night at the Reading Rooms.
Big Fish Little Fish are an independent, grassroots music and events crew that put on family raves with all the freedom and excitement of a mini-festival, right in the heart of cities and towns across the UK.
Drawing on their experience as seasoned clubbers and parents, the BFLF crew create anarchic, social, but most importantly daft, fun for all ages.
Inspired by founder Hannah Saunder’s lifelong love of clubbing and her babies’ enjoyment of festivals, BFLF is somewhere relaxing and entertaining where the adults enjoy themselves as much as the children and vice versa with grandparents, uncles, aunts and carers all in the mix.
Hannah says: “Raving always came from the heart, a way to express a love of music and dancing with your friends.
“BFLF extends that across the generations so you can rave with your
family too. It’s a celebration of life, love and music.
“We work hard to make sure each event is unique – different DJs, creative themes and guest artists running everything from hula-hoop demonstrations to synthesiser workshops to interactive light installations.
“Our parties are held in interesting and quirky venues; clubs, arts spaces and pubs, which help create the ambience of being at a real rave.”
Founded in Brixton in summer 2013, BFLF now runs on weekend afternoons throughout the UK.
Events are particularly targeted at families with young children (eight and under) but all age groups are welcome as long as there are both adults and children in your party.
As ever though, adults remain responsible for their children at all times.
