Kincardine man admits series of domestic assaults on partner

A Fife man has admitted a horrendous catalogue of domestic abuse against his partner over a two-year period.

The victim was violently attacked on a number of occasions at addresses in Kincardine and Ormiston.

She was punched, kicked, spat on, grabbed by the throat and pushed down stairs during the assaults. Some of the incidents occurred when she was pregnant.

Duncan Stanner, 30, of Mercer Street, Kincardine, appeared at Dunfermlin­e Sheriff Court. He admitted that on various occasions between March 1 2014 and April 28 2016 at Mercer Street and Cockburn Drive, Ormiston, he assaulted his then-partner, by punching her on the body.

He further admitted that between June 1 and December 31 2014, when she was pregnant, he repeatedly pushed her on to the ground, seized her by the arms, pulled her to her feet, spat on her face, seized her glasses, breaking them and seized her by the throat, all to her injury.

Between March 1 and 31 last year, at Cockburn Drive, he pushed her to the ground, repeatedly kicked her on the body, repeatedly threatened to punch her on the head, seized her by the body and dragged her to her feet, all to her injury.

The victim was subjected to a further assault on April 21, at Mercer Street, Stanner pulled her by the body, seized her by the throat, pinned her against a wall, placed her in a headlock, lifted her off the ground, pushed her down stairs, seized her by the throat, lifted her off her feet whereby her breathing was restricted, all to her injury.

Sentence was deferred for reports and Stanner will return to court on August 16.
