Profit for city fabrics group
A Dundee textiles wholesaler saw revenues increase last year.
New accounts lodged at Companies House show Gourdie Limited generated sales of £7.32 million in the year to November 30, up from £6.19m in the prior year.
Pre-tax profits fell in the period from £971,812 to £835,061, while profit for the year attributable to members of the parent company was £662,976.
The firm controls Wemyss Fabric (Holdings) Limited, which in turn is the parent of Sekers Fabrics.
Wemyss – which can trace its history back to the 19th Century and early power loom weaving in the Fife town – is focused on the domestic interior design market.
In May, the firm launched five new design collections in foil prints and silks.
Sekers – which was originally founded in the Lake District – will celebrate its 80th anniversary next year.
It produces a range of fabrics and wallcoverings for the contract market.
Parent company Gourdie Limited is controlled by its directors Malcolm Moir and Martin Wigglesworth.
In his strategic report to Gourdie Ltd’s accounts, Mr Moir said gross profit margin was the group’s key performance.
Gross margin was squeezed slightly from 49% to 48% in the year.
He added the business was both asset and cash positive.
