Dods hopes to finish cup campaign on a high

-

Brechin boss Darren Dods is looking for his side to finish their Betfred Cup campaign on a high against Falkirk this afternoon.

The Angus outfit have lost two and drawn one of their games so far with the Glebe gaffer admitting that with the matches coming thick and fast, he has not had much time to prepare his side on the training paddock.

However, after losing 2-0 to Stirling Albion in midweek, he is looking for a morale-boosting result against Peter Houston’s Bairns ahead of next week’s Championship opener at Queen of the South.

He said: “I came back from holiday on Monday night and had to go on the bench on Tuesday just as emergency cover.

“We didn’t start well and went 1-0 down but in the second half we created loads of chances, probably as many as we have done in any game so far,” he said.

“The cup games have been good for the clubs even although attendances have been a bit lower.

“But with the games coming Tuesday/Saturday, we have had little time to prepare the lads properly,” he added.

“We have only been having one training session a week so it will be good to get back to having the lads in twice a week again,” he said.

“Gary Fusco is still struggling for the game. He has an eye infection and has to wear a patch.

“Long-term injury victims Euan Smith and Liam Watt will also miss out but Paul McLean returns from suspension.

“Falkirk have won their three games in the Betfred so it will be a really tough test.”
