Diners reassured it’s business as usual at popular stopping off point in Angus

The new owners of a well-known A90 business in Angus have reassured staff and customers that business will continue as usual.

Peggy Scott’s near Finavon has served as a welcome break for families and long-distance drivers between Dundee and Aberdeen for 15 years.

The purpose-built location’s previous owners had marketed it for offers over £749,995.

New owner Simon Ramsay of Dalhousie Estates has vowed to keep existing staff and run the business “along present lines” with help from the management of Brechin Castle Centre across the dual carriageway.

Mr Ramsay said: “I am delighted to have been able to purchase this excellent family business and look forward to building on its reputation and past success.

“My immediate intention is to keep the business on an even keel but I will consider how it can be further developed once I have had time to understand it.

“Certainly my first impression is of an efficient, customer-focused business with an excellent team.

“I am also fortunate to have the assistance of the experienced management team at Brechin Castle Centre”.

The restaurant officially changed hands towards the end of last month.

The news follows an application for a 30-bed hotel, café, farm shop, restaurant, and petrol station further north on the A90, at the junction of the B974 near Luthermuir.

It is hoped that if plans are approved the development will help boost tourism.

In May, proposals for a 60-bed motel and garden centre at Stracathro services adjacent to the A90 were resubmitted to Angus planners.

The move follows the lapse of previously granted approval for the development, which stalled as a result of the credit crunch.
