Film festival to premiere at DCA

-

Dundee Contemporary Arts is to host the first Ironstar International Short Film Festival in August, showcasing submissions from independent Scottish and international filmmakers.

The festival aims to provide local audiences with the chance to see new short films, while giving film makers a platform to see their work on the big screen.

Ironstar Films received approximately 60 local and global submissions across a range of genres, including animation, drama, thriller, documentary, experimental, comedy and science fiction, making the final selection a “real challenge”.

Audience members attending the festival will be invited to vote for their favourite film to select the winner of the Audience Award, which comes with a prize of £250.

Alice Black, head of cinema at DCA, said: “We are always delighted to have an opportunity to support the local filmmaking industry.

“So we jumped at the chance to team up with Ironstar productions to host its first International Short Film Festival.

“This is a brand new project which we hope will put local, national and international short films on the map in Dundee.”

The festival takes place on Sunday at 8.30pm.
