Concert will continue support for earthquake-hit Nepal

-

Kirriemuir Rotary Club is continuing to work with to work with its international counterparts in the Rotary Club of the Himalayan Gurkhas to help rebuild their earthquakedamaged country.

Since a visit by members of the Kirrie club earlier this year, further funds have been sent to Nepal for the reinstatement of a water supply to one of the hill villages and for the building of toilets in another village school where there are none at present.

Club international convener Barbara Lovegrove said: “There is still an immense need in Nepal, with families still living in temporary accommodation.

“Although the government of Nepal has been sent money from around the world following on from the earthquake, very little has been released to allow reconstruction to take place.

“That is why monies sent from the Rotary Club of Kirriemuir directly to the Rotary Club of the Himalayan Gurkhas is both important and effective.”

Fundraising will continue with a Concert for Nepal in Kirriemuir Town Hall on Saturday August 19 at 7.30pm.

Imogen Walker and friends, who have completed their studies at Knightswood dance and musical theatre school and are about to go off to various London colleges, will entertain.

They will be joined by a number of young friends, including Ryan Kopel.

Tickets, £15 and £12, are available from the Flower Shop in the Roods or any Rotarian.

A coffee morning will also be held in Kirrie Town Hall on the same day from 10.30am.
