Business as usual message for return of Lammas Market

-

Fife Council has stressed it will be business as usual in St Andrews when the Lammas Market returns.

The funfair and continental market will run on Market Street from August 11-15, from 11am- 1pm, while South Street will host the funfair and market traders stalls from 11ammidnight on August 14 and 11am-11pm on August 15.

The event will bring some road closures.

Keith Jackson, parks and community officer, said: “Each year we work closely with the St Andrews Merchants’ Association and despite the road closures, the shops and businesses will be open as normal. The Lammas Market is one of Europe’s oldest medieval markets and is well worth the visit, with any profit from the event going directly to the St Andrews Common Good Fund.”

Church Street will be shut between Market Street and South Street from noon on August 10 to noon on August 16, with access permitted for service vehicles only in both directions on Church Street.

South Street will be closed between West Port and Abbey Street from 3pm on August 13 until noon on August 16, while Bell Street will be closed between Market Street and South Street at the same times.

Queens Gardens will be closed between South Street and Queens Terrace from 3pm on August 13 to noon on August 16, with access for residents’ parking and service vehicles.
