Police volunteers best in Britain
Dunfermline’s police youth volunteers are the best in Britain – and that’s official.
The team competed at the British National Cadet Competition against 21 others from police areas in England and Wales, and scooped first prize.
The Police Scotland Youth Volunteer (PSYV) team, along with mascot Ginge, completed seven different events in the contest at RAF Cosford in Shropshire, which challenged the group’s physical, mental and teamwork skills.
Dunfermline member Kyle Gray was also given an individual award for leadership.
The team won the Scottish competition at the Scottish Police College, Tulliallan, in August last year.
Adult volunteer Ashley Taylor said: “The team have been fantastic. They have excelled in everything they have been asked to do, not only in the events but how they have conducted themselves throughout the weekend.”
Fife’s divisional commander, Chief Superintendent Colin Gall, added: “This is an outstanding achievement by the volunteers in the Dunfermline PSYV group.
“I have been at some of their sessions and was delighted to see the energy and enthusiasm of the group.
“This award is a true reflection on their team spirit and the hard work put in by the adult and youth volunteers.”
Inspector Jane Combe, who leads PSYV in Fife, said the win was a tremendous achievement.
