Jobs boost in care services

-

Fife will receive a jobs boost with a new contract awarded to provide care at home services.

Twenty jobs will be created at Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy, Comrie, Crieff, Kinross, Crook of Devon, Milnathort and Scotlandwell.

Linda Adams, manager for Mears Care at Home, confirmed 20 new jobs will be made following the firm securing new contracts from Perth and Kinross and Fife councils to provide at home services.

She said the new posts would provide essential services for those living in their own homes with chronic conditions, the frail elderly and those with acute illness who need daily support for independent living.

“We would like to recruit people with experience in care at home. But if people are changing career Mears offers a good training scheme, and there are great opportunities for career progression, with training offered for SVQs in care.”

Ms Adams added: “We know that our teams get enormous satisfaction from working directly with people, who appreciate their support.

“What care workers do makes a real difference to their quality of life.”

Services include respite care, re-enablement care following an episode of illness, or stay in hospital, domiciliary care, 24 hour live-in care, as well as palliative care services.
