Connemara stallion wins quaich at Perth Show
Overall champion and winner of the Perth Show Quaich for the light legged horse was the pony champion, the mountain and moorland pony Fuinseoig Boy from Margaret Whiteford.
The nine-year-old Connemara stallion Fuinseoig Boy, was ridden by James Whiteford, and their freestyle was well executed with an expressive change of pace showing his scope and manners.
Known as Harvey at home, they have had a tremendous season this year, qualifying for the Royal International to stand in seventh place last month.
They also finished runner-up at the Royal Highland and Scottish Horse Show, just missing an elusive Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) qualifying ticket.
They also stood champion of the NPS Scotland performance awards for the open show classes last year.
Reserve supreme was the winner of the horse championship, Shona Wallace, from Nairn, with The Dunn Frog. The eight-year-old dark bay gelding came to supreme after standing champion of the working hunters, they have qualified for Blair style and jumping finals and were most recently supreme at Hollingsbell Show.
The reserve supreme horse champion was the Arab victor from Ashley Anderson with her two-year-old, Ashlea’s Little Prince.
The pony has won around the country this season, including at the Royal Highland and lifting supreme in-hand champion at Ayr County and reserve supreme at Turriff.
The England family enjoyed a good show with cousins enjoying wins.
Amelia England won the novice working hunter championship with Eleanor of Aquitaine.
The open working hunter pony championship went to James Houlden riding the 133cm victor Pebbly Principal Boy and filling reserve was Isabella England with the Connemara gelding Moonlight Ard Silver.
