Elmwood can help your skillset grow

-

Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) Elmwood Campus is situated in Cupar, Fife, and will hold its next open evening next Wednesday.

The college attracts students from across Fife, Perthshire and Tayside, plus many other areas of the UK, as well as European and International students. Courses range from introductory-level programmes to Higher National Diploma levels, with excellent progression routes to degree programmes at other SRUC campuses and other universities. As funding is increasingly an issue for students, Elmwood can ease the financial burden by allowing you to study to HNC/HND level locally, before accessing a university course directly into the second or third year.

SRUC Elmwood Campus offers a variety of courses with limited spaces remaining for a September start, including countryside management, gamekeeping, greenkeeping, professional golf, golf management, hospitality and horticulture.

Along with excellent training facilities, beautiful grounds and gardens, fitness suite, training restaurant, training kitchen, training bakery and its own 18hole golf course near Cuparmuir, it also has fantastic links with industry.

SRUC is committed to developing learning and skills for the economy that leads to jobs and life fulfilment. Courses are designed with a blend of theoretical and practical skills. All of its courses include a period of work experience, which can enhance a student’s CV and offer networking opportunities in their chosen industry.

Students who attend SRUC Elmwood Campus will follow a range of paths once they have completed their studies. For many it is a stepping stone to a degree qualification, employment or even the opportunity set up their own business.

Getting to Elmwood need not be an issue, as there are excellent bus and rail links and the college provides free transport from the Levenmouth and East Neuk areas.

If you are a school leaver or a career changer and would like to know more about what is available at Elmwood, why not pop along to the open evening next Wednesday? This informal event will run from 5pm to 7pm and provides the perfect opportunity for people to visit this friendly campus and find out more about what is on offer. You can also find out about funding and the study support that is available, too, while a tour of the residence can also be arranged.

And don’t forget the allotment club – it runs every Saturday morning from 10am to noon during term-time. It’s free and anyone with an interest in gardening is welcome.
