Links Park boss wary of wounded Warriors
Montrose manager Stewart Petrie is warning his players that they cannot take anything for granted when they host Stenhousemuir in League Two today.
The Gable Endies won on the road at Edinburgh City last weekend, while the Warriors were going down at home to Stirling Albion.
However, Petrie is wary, saying: “They will have been disappointed at losing to Stirling and will be looking to hit back.
“Their manager Brown Ferguson has put together a really strong squad and in Jamie Longworth and Mark McGuigan they have a very deadly strikeforce.
“It is our first home game and we want to win it, but like every single game in this league this season nothing will be given up easily.
“We did well at Edinburgh City to get our 3-1 win and it was a game that showed that goals at the right time can change things.
“There was not much in it for a long time but we got a break at the opening goal when the ball took a wicked bounce over their goalkeeper and that gave us a huge lift.
“We controlled things well after that until the closing stages when they pulled a goal back.
“To go away from home and score our first goals and get our first win was a really good start to the season as you do not want these things dragging on.
“We were also nine players down so to get the win when we were as stretched as that was good going.
“It was a good start but that is all it was and we face a real tough game with Stenhousemuir.”
Cammy Ballantyne is available after returning on loan from Dundee United, with skipper Paul Watson and Graham Webster are included after suspension.
Jamie Redman in line for his debut after overcoming a broken jaw picked up in pre-season.
Michael Bolochoweckyj, Danny Cavanagh, Ryan Ferguson, Terry Masson, Kerr Hay and Gary Fraser remain out.
