Broughty take their winning run on road

-

Broughty Athletic are one of three teams to have won both their opening matches, but the Fed now face their first away game against top-flight newcomers Kennoway Star Hearts.

In their quest for a hat-trick of wins, Broughty have no fresh injury worries after Tuesday night’s 3-1 victory over Forfar West End.

A couple of players took small knocks but should be available with newcomer Dayle Robertson, who is still injured, the only absentee.

It has been a tough start for the Fifers after away defeats at Penicuik and Hill of Beath, so no doubt they will welcome this first home game.

Since last Saturday they have added Nicky McGowan, previously with Thornton Hibs, Oakley and East Fife, to their squad.

Lochee United travel to face the Premier League champions Sauchie who impressively defeated Bo’ness on Wednesday.

The Bluebells were also in fine form with a 5-0 win at Carnoustie but once again injury problems are causing manager George Shields a headache.

Paul Lunan, Kevin Buchan, Craig Smith and Reece Ritchie are all ruled out.

Meanwhile, Carnoustie will be out to get their first points on the board when Broxburn Athletic check in at Laing Park.

With Steven Cook, Ryan Roche, Robert Urquhart and Liam Scott all injured, and Luke McGeehan unavailable, boss Alan McSkimming has no room for manoeuvre.

Failing to take their chances sent Jeanfield Swifts stumbling against Dundonald Bluebell in midweek, so player/boss Ross Gunnion will hope his side are sharper in front of goal when they meet Bo’ness at Riverside Stadium.

That will be easier said than done, though, against one of the contenders for the title.

Swifts welcome Daniel Kelly back from suspension but Ben Blyth and Mark Duigan miss out.

Boosted by victory at Jeanfield, Dundonald welcome Penicuik who have impressed in beating Linlithgow Rose and Newtongrange Star.

The Fife side have suffered an injury blow. Craig Wedderburn has broken a metatarsal and has been ruled out for six weeks.

Forfar West End, who could reasonably consider themselves unlucky to lose 3-1 at Broughty in midweek, face a difficult assignment away to Hill of Beath today.

The Fifers have made a good start, holding Lochee United and then narrowly defeating Kennoway in midweek.

West End player/boss Daryl McKenzie is sweating on the fitness of one or two who took knocks at Whitton Park.
