Livestock, crowds, and a spectacular line-up of 28 scarecrows lined the banks of Loch Leven for the 187th Kinross show.

The event dodged the showers which have plagued this summer’s show season and culminated in a champion of champions contest which was won by The Ultimate Legacy, the ridden pony champion from Emily Simpson of Perth.

In reserve place was the interbreed sheep champion, a Texel from David McKerrow of Nockary Farm, Freuchie.

She was a ewe lamb by the 30,000gns jointly-owned tup, Knock Yankee and out of a dam by Ettrick Ura Winner. She is also a full sister to the 2017 Yorkshire show champion.

The Mule champion was the reserve interbreed sheep. She was from Craig and Katreen Malone, Pitcairn Farm, Cardenden, and on her first outing. She is a daughter of a Nightrider son and will be for sale at Stirling.

The interbreed cattle champion was the Aberdeen Angus winner, a two-yearold heifer from Donald Rankin of Kilmaluag in Skye which has already won championships at the Doune and Dunblane and Grantown shows this season. Weston Princess Chartreuse, a daughter of Retties JFK, is due to calf in September and was shown by Richard Rettie.

The commercial winner was placed reserve in the cattle interbreed championship. She was the 15-monthold Limousin cross heifer, Third Time Lucky, shown by Stewart and Lynsey Bett, Newmills Farm, Fallin. She is a daughter of Noble Freddie and was champion at Drymen show.

Young stock handling is a feature of Kinross Show and this year the dairy young handler award was won by Ruaridh Lawson, the beef handler trophy was won by Katie Watson and top sheep handler was Harry Collinson.
