Violet maintain perfect start thanks to Batchelor goal

-

VIOLET’s unblemished record continued, their 1-0 win over Lochore at Glenesk maintaining their 100% start without conceding a goal.

Craig Batchelor was the match-winner, scoring on the hour. ARBROATH VICS also have six points after narrowly defeating FORFAR ALBION at Ogilvy Park.

Charlie Wilson scored twice to give Vics a 2-0 lead at the break.

Although Dylan Phillips reduced the leeway midway through the second half, the home side held on.

EAST CRAIGIE found themselves two down at

COUPAR ANGUS before mounting a revival to edge it by the odd goal in five for a second successive victory.

Goals from Ross Nicolson and Stuart Banks inside 18 minutes gave the Perthshire side a dream start.

However, Banks was sent off after 30 minutes following a second booking.

It proved to be the pivotal point of the match as the Shipbuilders hit back, with Nik Mann bagging a brace and Adam Brown also on target.

A 3-0 home victory over

HARP gave NEWBURGH their first win of the season. They were helped by Harp’s indiscipline, which saw the visitors finish with nine men.

Stuart Fowler, Fraser Anderson and an own goal accounted for the win.

A last-gasp goal by player/ coach Andy Ballantyne enabled

NORTH END to pick up their first three points at home to LUNCARTY.

All the goals came in the second half, with Frankie Devine’s opener for the Dokens being cancelled out by Luncarty’s Calum Kirkcaldy.

SCONE THISTLE were comfortable 3-0 winners over BRECHIN VICS at Farquharson Park.

Sean Whitworth gave them the lead after 13 minutes, but they had to wait until the final two minutes when Craig Mitchell and Charlie Fertacz were on target.

Although the clash between BLAIRGOWRIE and KINNOULL at Davie Park finished goalless, both sides had chances.

Given that the scoring opportunities were evenly proportioned, a share of the spoils was a fair refelction of proceedings.
