Golf day in aid of Guide Dogs

-

A charity golf day will tee off at Drumoig in St Andrews to raise funds for Guide Dogs.

The event, on Saturday August 26, has been organised by local man Danny Rooney and will be opened by MP Stephen Gethins.

Mr Rooney, a volunteer puppy walker for Guide Dogs, has been fundraising for the charity for around 10 years.

This is the sixth Guide Dogs Scotland charity golf day hosted and sponsored by Drumoig Golf Hotel.

“There are still a handful of spaces available if anyone would like to join in this brilliant event for a great cause,” he said.

“Anyone who gets involved will be helping the 530 guide dog owners in Scotland, and the many others who benefit from the charity’s other services.”

Linda Middlemist, who is head of mobility services for Guide Dogs in the east of Scotland, said: “Every day Guide Dogs helps people living with sight loss get to work, get to school or just do something they love.”

Entry costs £35 per golfer, which includes 18 holes followed by a prizegiving dinner, charity auction and raffle.

Raffle tickets are available from Provost Vets, Ferguson Shoe Repairs, The Keys Bar and The New Inn in St Andrews, as well as the Guide Dogs Forfar Training School.

Those interested in taking part in the golf day can contact Mr Rooney at dannyrooney259@hotmail.com or on 01334 474377.
