Gers boss believes fans are behind him

-

Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha insists he will remain single-minded despite mounting murmurs of discontent.

The Ibrox side are already five points adrift of the early Premiership pace-setters just three games into the season and were booed off after last week’s goalless draw with Hearts.

Defeat tomorrow by Ross County could see them drop eight points adrift – the same number Brendan Rodgers’ relentless Celtic let slip in the whole of last season.

But Caixinha, who yesterday told St Johnstone loan attacker Michael O’Halloran he had no future at Ibrox, said: “I always felt the support of the fans in the stadium.

“What I need to tell you, and it’s a Portuguese saying, ‘the dogs bark and the caravan keeps going’. That means that we are focused in our work. We are all together in the same direction.

“So we are the ones that know what direction we are going and the fans are supporting us.”

Rangers will be without wideman Josh Windass for the trip north after the former Accrington playmaker suffered a knee injury in the draw with Hearts.

Striker Eduardo Herrera should return, though, after recovering from the knock which kept him out against the Jambos.

County skipper Andrew Davies is looking forward to the chance to add to Rangers’ woes.

The Staggies were unbeaten in their three fixtures against the Light Blues last season, with two of their three draws coming at Ibrox.

The 32-year-old former Middlesbrough, Southampton and Bradford defender said: “Obviously they haven’t got off to the best of starts, but they are a fantastic team and they can change things around in an instant, we have to be aware of that. “It is a fantastic challenge for us. “I think they are stronger than last season, but we know that if we can get in the faces of teams coming here then we are going to make it difficult which I am sure we will do on Sunday.

“We know when we play to our full ability we can beat teams and that is the aim on Sunday.”
