March promotes independence

-

A new group set up to promote Scottish independence held its inaugural march and rally for the cause in Dunfermline at the weekend.

Members and supporters of the Forward As One Association marched down the High Street and into Pittencrieff Park on Saturday afternoon, where a range of guest speakers took to the stage.

There was also a range of musicians and entertainers for the crowds before a party was held at the Brasshouse.

Martin Keatings, chairman of the association, said: “The rallies in Glasgow and Edinburgh are excellent but we felt that we needed to begin bringing the positive message of the potential from self-governance to smaller communities.

“We are consistently told by the media that there is no appetite for a referendum but the truth is that things could not be further from the truth.

“People who voted no in 2014 are moving to the position of backing a second referendum in droves because of the less-than satisfactory political climate Scotland now finds itself in.”

He added: “People say there is no need for such events.

“But in reality, they are a day for the public to see the positive message of the Yes campaign.

“They allow supporters to come together from across Scotland in common cause and celebrate the movement, exchanging stories, knowledge and ideas freely but more importantly, keep connected with the general public.”
