Heart attack kick-started my life

-

Alocal slimmer has transformed her life following the devastating news of her brothers heart attack. Angie Paton lost an incredible 5 stone after joining her local Slimming World group.

Angie received a call that was to change her life forever. Her brother, aged 44, had suffered a heart attack and was rushed to hospital where he underwent emergency life saving surgery. “It was the kick up the bum that I needed” said Angie “I was a size 24 and was seriously lacking in confidence, so much so that I refused to go swimming with my daughter as I didn’t want her to get teased about my size. I was extremely unhappy and found clothes shopping stressful as I had to buy clothes that fitted me, not clothes I liked, all I ever wanted to do was walk into any shop and find clothes I liked.”

As a result of her weight Angie suffered agonising pains in her hips and migraines. She was otherwise quite fit and enjoyed taking her dogs on long walks, but the pain was insufferable and she knew that something had to change.

On the 28th July 2015 she took the brave step and joined her local Slimming World group which her friend attended. She had seen how well she was doing and is delighted to say it was the best decision she has ever made. “I was really nervous but was put at ease straight away with the lovely warm welcome I received” says Angie “I was delighted when I discovered that my weight would never be disclosed and that I could set my own Target. I was amazed when I returned after my first week with a 5 ½lb weight loss and the following week I lost 4lb, I knew that with the help and support of the group my goal would be achievable” added Angie. “The group was an important part of my journey and I have made some life long friends.”

The great thing about the Extra Easy plan is that it fits in with the family “our favourites meals are chicken and pasta with a mushroom sauce or a roast chicken dinner with roast potatoes and trimmings. I have always had a big appetite and the great news is that I never go hungry with all the free food choices. I didn’t even have to give up chocolate and can still enjoy Starbars and Curly Wurlys, so have never felt deprived.”

Angie is now completely pain free and her confidence has soared and is looking forward to relaunching her local Slimming World group in Brechin on Tuesday 29th August at the Northern Hotel, Clerk Street. She is looking forward to helping and supporting members achieve their dreams. If you would like to find out more pop along at any of the sessions 3.30pm, 5.30pm or 7.30pm or contact Angie on 07833191322.
