Stars urged to learn from errors

-

Dundee Stars coach Omar Pacha is looking for more from his side when Edinburgh Capitals visit Dundee Ice Arena tomorrow.

Pacha was pleased with his players in the penalty shoot-out loss to the Murrayfield men on Sunday and said: “In a shootout anything can happen.”

He is looking to see his newlook squad move forward again and added: “The result is not everything as long as we make progress as a squad and as long as we learn from our mistakes.”

Pacha admitted that his side made errors in the 3-2 shootout success over Belfast Giants on Saturday and in the joust in Edinburgh.

However, he added: “Saturday was a competitive game and so was Sunday and that’s what I was looking for this early in the season.

“We had two competitive games in two nights and that was good.

“We’ll have two-game weekends on a number of occasions this season so it was also good to see how they performed.

“Mistakes happen in the first weekend of the season but I enjoy working with this group and look forward to developing them in the weeks to come.”

Meanwhile, Fife Flyers head coach Todd Dutiaume continues to assert that his squad are a “work in progress”.

They have completed four pre-season games, winning two and losing two, and Dutiaume said: “You cannot take nights off in this league as teams will punish you.”

Flyers are in action this weekend when they square-up to Stars on Saturday (2pm) in the Scottish Elite Cup.

Capitals host Braehead Clan at 5.30pm in the other semi.
