Revealing town’s hidden gems
What do an ancient Scottish Earldom, a Dunfermline-born Native American and a pioneering Victorian photographer have in common?
The answer will be revealed next month as they are all topics to be discussed at a conference organised by Dunfermline Heritage Community Projects.
The event will take place in Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries on Saturday October 14.
There will be a number of presentations, including one by former soldier and businessman Angus Hay, who will talk about the earls of Dunfermline.
Also speaking will be author Robert Brightwell, who will share his findings on a Dunfermline-born Native American who became a hero in the 1812 Niagara Peninisula War.
Meanwhile, Dunfermlineborn author Alison Bacon will present a talk on Victorian-era photography.
There will also be smaller presentations about aspects of Dunfermline’s heritage.
A spokesperson for the conference said: “The programme has been produced to present real undiscovered jewels in Dunfermline’s rich royal historic crown.”
The event will take place from 10am to 4pm.
Tickets are priced £8 and include lunch.
They are on sale at Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries and from Dunfermline Heritage Community Projects.
