Drivers warned about weekend resurfacing work on M90
Motorists are being warned about roadworks taking place on the M90 between Kelty and Halbeath this weekend.
The southbound section, used by 15,000 vehicles a day, is being resurfaced in a £290,000 project.
The programme started last night and will continue throughout the weekend, using 24-hour working.
It is expected to be completed by 6.30am on Monday.
For the safety of workers and motorists, a contraflow system will be in place between Kelty and Halbeath.
The M90 Junction 4 southbound off and on slip roads will be closed throughout the weekend, due to the location of the improvements, and signed diversions will be in place.
The Junction 4 southbound on slip diversion will be via the northbound M90 Junction 5 at Gairneybridge then heading southbound on the M90.
Traffic wanting to use Junction 4 southbound off slip will be diverted south to M90 Junction 3 at Halbeath then onto the northbound M90.
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
Encouraging drivers to allow some extra journey time, BEAR Scotland’s northeast representative Andy Thompson, said: “We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption as much as possible during the improvements and have planned the works to take place over one weekend to limit the overall impact of the scheme.
