How to master the Victoria Beckham soft tailoring look

You too can master the Posh tailored style of Victoria Beckham

Sleek and slouchy has become VB’s signature style but you can emulate her approach with just a few strategic high street purchases.

Remember when Victoria Beckham was known for the taut, second-skin dresses she not only sent down the catwalk but wore herself almost non-stop?

Well, times have changed, and now the 43-year-old says ‘soft tailoring’ is her signature look, for both her designer collections and her personal style. That means out with the constricting frocks and in with slouchy trousers, silky shirts and mannish blazers.

It’s a style that catwalk brands do well but you don’t have to pay luxury prices to get the VB look – and there are just three key pieces you need (plus a pair of box-fresh white trainers).

First up, a pair of wide-leg trousers, cut straight rather than flared so they pool satisfyingly around your ankles. Add to that a shirt or blouse that’s fluid (not crisp) and top it off with a slightly oversized blazer (pushed up sleeves are optional).

Neutrals lend themselves well to tailored pieces but these sleek shapes mean that you can experiment with clashing block colours or choose tonal shades of camel, cream or red from head to toe.
