Renewed appeal for witnesses

-

Two motorists who were seriously injured in a crash on the A92 in Fife were understood to be in a stable condition last night.

A 25-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee after the collision, which happened just north of Ladybank early on Saturday.

It is understood both suffered broken bones in the pre-dawn smash.

Police Scotland said officers were continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision, which happened just before 5am, and made a renewed appeal for witnesses to come forward.

The young woman was driving a white Volkswagen Up and the teenager was in a silver Vauxhall Corsa.

Following the crash, the A92 was sealed off between Ladybank and the Melville Lodges roundabout for much of Saturday while officers examined the scene.

Fire crews from Glenrothes used cutting equipment to free one of the casualities from their vehicle.

Sergeant Alastair Purvis of Fife’s Road Policing Unit urged any witnesses to come forward.

He said he was keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this collision or the vehicles being driven beforehand.

The road was closed until around 4pm on Saturday, with delays reported on diversionary routes towards Cupar and Falkland.
