Collaborative efforts helping to tackle anti-social quad bike use
Mid Scotland and Fife MSP Claire Baker has praised the work of Kingdom Off-Road Motorcycle Club (KORMC) in helping to tackle the illegal and anti-social use of quad bikes in Fife.
The club has been working to deliver 12-week programmes of training in riding and bike maintenance and workshops for youngsters, covering anti-social behaviour, victims’ perspectives and road safety.
Raising the issue in the Scottish Parliament, the Labour politician highlighted the work of the Fife organisation and local community police in dealing with problems which had been blighting the community.
Ms Baker has been campaigning against the anti-social behaviour for a number of years.
During Justice Questions she called for the Scottish Government to take note of the work being carried out by police in Fife and organisations such as KORMC as part of its efforts to ensure the problem is tackled throughout Scotland.
Ms Baker said: “I’ve been campaigning for some time against the illegal and anti-social use of quad bikes and similar vehicles in Fife.
“During this campaign I have been impressed by the work and dedication of organisations such as Kingdom Off-Road Motorcycle Club and their ability to work collaboratively with local police and authorities to deliver behavioural change in the area.
“Whilst the campaign has been successful in raising awareness and driving down instances of such behaviour, there is still much work to be done and often the trouble simply moves from one part of the region to another.”
