The judges have been confirmed for the Stirling Bull Sales which takes place later this month.

More than 700 pedigree beef bulls and females have been entered for sale at the three-day event on October 22-24.

Sale organiser and host United Auctions said the popular Sunday judging element of the fixture would take place again this year with Aberdeen-Angus, Beef Shorthorn, Limousin and Salers to be judged that day. They will then be sold on the Monday. Meanwhile, shows of Charolais and Simmental cattle will be held on Monday, followed by sales on Tuesday.

The sales will also feature the dispersal of the Cheeklaw AberdeenAngus herd on the Monday – 63 lots from the Scottish Borders-based herd will go under the hammer as a result of the herd’s owner retiring.

Monday will also feature a major reduction sale of the Orkney-based Baillieston herd of Charolais cattle, with 45 lots from the Baillie family entered for sale.

The sale will also feature the dispersal of the Cheltenham-based Sterling herd of Simmental cattle from Boddington Estates Ltd.

United Auctions group sales director John Roberts said: “With an unrivalled choice across seven breeds of pedigree cattle in one location over three days, the Stirling Bull Sales is the best place to find the right genetics for your herd.”

The Aberdeen-Angus judge is Robert Clarke of Shadwell Estate, Brettenham, Thetford, while the Beef Shorthorn judge is James Nelson of Carnduff, Larne.

Limousin entries will be assessed by Chris Pennie, Gwern Yr Ychain, Llandyssil, Montgomery, and Charolais cattle will be judged by David Barker, Sable House, Nuthampstead, Royston.

The Simmental judge is Brian Sutherland of Connachie Farm, Kellas, Elgin.
