New HMO plan lodged for town

-

A new House of Multiple Occupation (HMO) application has been lodged for St Andrews.

The property at 12 Priestden Place obtained an HMO licence for five people in 2010 and the owners are seeking change of use consent for a HMO for six people.

The plan would include the creation of a single storey rear extension and a first floor side extension.

It comes just days after a plan for a five-person HMO in Learmonth Place was given the backing of councillors at a special meeting of the regulation and licensing committee.

A statement from Eve Brown, on behalf of the owners of the Priestden Place address, said the property had been well looked after since a licence was first obtained seven years ago.

“During this time there have been no complaints or issues at the property, which has been let every year to date,” the statement added.

“We, as an agent, are also always on hand should there be any issues needing addressed.

“The owners take their responsibilities as landlords very seriously and provide an extremely high standard of accommodation and any proposed alterations will be of benefit to the tenants. It is worth noting that any work will also be given to local tradesmen.

“The increase by one person to make it six will not really have an adverse effect on the surrounding area.”
