Bluebell options limited for trip to leaders Penicuik

- by Peter Rundo

The last fixture Lochee United would have chosen today after three successive defeats was a trip away to Super League leaders Penicuik.

Manager George Shields must be considering changes to his line-up in the wake of their poor run of form.

However, with Mark Stewart, Aaron Whitehead, Danny Millar and Kevin Buchan all missing his options are limited.

Having suffered four successive defeats, Carnoustie are another side hoping to get back on track away to Jeanfield Swifts.

The Gowfers will have the same squad available as last week when they were edged out 2-1 at Hill of Beath.

With Swifts only three points clear of the drop zone and their hosts just one place ahead and only two points better off, both sides will be desperate for the three points.

Swifts are without Jamie Reid, and Matt Curtis continues in goal as Mark Mitchell is still sidelined.

After facing Carnoustie, Hill of Beath have Tayside visitors again when Broughty Athletic check in at Keirs Park.

Other than central defender Rikkie Dair, Haws are at full strength as they look to complete the double.

Meanwhile, Broughty boss Jim Finlayson is looking for an improvement from last week when individual errors cost them dearly in the 4-1 defeat to leaders Penicuik. Stewart McConnachie is added to last week’s squad.

Dundonald Bluebell return to action after being idle last week and could not face a tougher test than a trip to title favourites Bonnyrigg Rose.

The Fifers are on the same points as their third-placed hosts, albeit with a game more played, so should have no inferiority complex.

Bluebell Boss Stevie Kay has a full squad available.

Bottom side Forfar West End head to Bo’ness and it is vital the Angus side take something – otherwise they are in real danger of being cast adrift at the foot of the table.
