Tricky test for Wanderers

-

Grove Menzieshill and MJV Wanderers face a two-day frenzy with back-toback Premier League and Scottish Cup outings on their schedules.

First up, Wanderers’ youngsters have a tricky home assignment in trying to stall Edinburgh University’s quest to retain their national crown before travelling for tomorrow’s second round cup tie against Glasgow University which promises a more successful outcome.

Meanwhile it is a double header for Grove and Watsonians.

Today’s late afternoon league clash precedes a second trip to the capital with victory anticipated on both occasions.

Elsewhere today’s top of the bill league encounter pits a stuttering Clydesdale Western against their rampaging neighbours from Wildcats whose momentum is running high at the top of the table with six wins from six, and also dumping their city rivals out of the cup.

While the Cats welcome Dundee University to their Auchenhow den for tomorrow’s tie, the former cup holders find themselves welcoming Granite City Wanderers when they play in their first ever Plate tie.

In addition to the full card of national and championship matches both Midland divisions return to league action following three weeks of local cup competition.

Madras are the sole survivors in tomorrow’s District Cup programme with Glasgow University II arriving at University Park.

Elsewhere in Plate competition Monarchs fly the flag against Edinburgh University Vs at Peffermill, while Perthshire II hoist the banner against MCCW IVs at Kilgraston.
