Man sent text threats to partner
A Kirkcaldy man who ignored a non-harassment order has been jailed.
John McLeod got back together with Mary McBay, despite being banned from contacting her.
He went on to send her a threatening text message and in another incident brandished a bottle at her.
John McLeod, 29, currently a prisoner at Perth, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for sentencing.
He previously admitted that between May 24 and July 23, he breached the conditions of a non-harassment order imposed in October last year by repeatedly having contact with Ms McBay at Cheviot Road, Kirkcaldy.
He also admitted that on July 1, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by sending a threatening text message to her.
He also admitted that on July 22, at the same address, he assaulted her by brandishing a glass bottle at her and threatened to hit her on the head with it.
Depute fiscal Ron Hay said McLeod and Ms McBay had been in “on-off relationship since 2010 and this was described as being extremely violent and volatile”.
A non-harassment order was imposed for five years but the couple reconciled again in May.
The court was told McLeod was already on a community payback order.
Sheriff Charles MacNair jailed him for 14 months.
