Stars forced to rule out Mastrodicasa again

-

Canadian defenceman Anthony Mastrodicasa has enjoyed no luck since he arrived in Dundee.

The 26-year-old sat out through injury earlier in the season and Stars player/coach Omar Pacha has been forced to rule the player out of this weekend’s double-header with Elite League newcomers Guildford Flames.

The 6ft 1in blue-liner has only iced in six of Stars’ games so far this term.

A question mark also hangs over the fitness of the club’s leading points scorer, Johan Andersson.

The playmaker has recorded 12 points from two goals and 10 assists in 12 games so far.

Defenceman Pacha, who returned to the ice last weekend, recording an assist in one of the games against Coventry Blaze, said: “Anthony has had zero luck so far with us.

“He’s out again, but we hope Johan will make it.”

Pacha has homed in on tomorrow’s clash at Dundee Ice Arena, which is a Halloween theme night, and said: “It’s our home game. It’s important to win.”

Stars will have to watch Flames dangerman John Dunbar, the Elite League player of the week.

He has recorded an astonishing 28 points for the newcomers from 10 goals and 18 assists in 14 outings.

Pacha said: “Guildford have had some decent results and we must start winning at home in front of our own fans.

“Sunday (against Coventry Blaze) was a good performance but we did not bury our chances and we need to do that on Saturday.”
