Back for its seventh year, Dundee’s Punktoberf­est rolls in to town this weekend.

Featuring 25 bands across two venues, the punk festival will be held at Church tonight and Beat Generator Live tomorrow.

As ever it’s a varied line-up of local and travelling bands and once more Punk Rock Scotland have teamed up with local companies Rainbow Music and Goodtimes Music Studio along with Tayport Tattoo Collective to bring the best in punk to the people of Dundee.

The line-up this year sees tonight’s headliners Control welcomed back after a couple of years, supported by Dundee’s own On File playing their first hometown gig in five years and young Dundee punks Delinquent­s who are launching their debut album, About Last Night, at the gig.

Perth’s Brain Glue will open proceeding­s and Malfunctio­n from Aberdeen will close tonight’s event.

Tomorrow has Billyclub making a return to headline with some great acts in support .

13 Tombs will open tomorrow and bands will be on all day from 1pm. Snide Remarks, Potential Victims, No Thrills, Flat back Four, Kickback Generation and The Mispelt all make the journey from down south, while The Signal makes the trek from Inverness. More Scottish talent in the form of Altered States, Iron System, The Rotten Apples, The Eddies, 4 Past Midnight, The Zips , Shatterhan­d, Panic Attak , Sunday Punk Club, Skizofreni­k will all grace the stages before The Gimme Gimme Gimmes close the evening with a set of Scottishba­sed punk covers .

All of this, plus a special one off appearance by Dundee punk Legends The Dungbeatle­s, should be enough to convince anyone who was swithering .

The event will also be captured on film by a crew from Napier University who are filming a documentar­y with the working title Punk Culture. Tickets are still available from Groucho’s.

Mungo’s Hi Fi Sound System returns to the Reading Rooms tonight for a live show with Tom Spirals and Nem.

Tickets are £7 from Groucho’s and resident advisor.net and gates open at 9.30pm.

It’s the Book Club Halloween special tomorrow with disco, house and techno from Is Kill and Marc JD.

Get your costumes ready and thriller moves polished.

Reckless Kettle are also doing an extra spooky Halloween party on Thursday.

Mikey and Fergus will be spinning a sinister selection of terrifying techno, haunted house and Halloween classics.

Dressing up is highly encouraged and there will be a prize for the best costume.

Number 57 has its weekly acoustic session tonight from 9pm. Ringer are in the tea time slot tomorrow at 5.30pm then again on Sunday at 7pm. The Lawson Brothers are at McDaniels tonight from 9pm. Tomorrow it’s The Directors at 9.30pm.

California­n post-hardcore group Slaves is at Deacon Brodies tonight for Dundee Music Collective’s Halloween night.

Support comes from Bad Omens, The Boy Orchestra and Grievance.

Tomorrow it’s another Halloween party night with Sonorous, Veins of Carbide, Breeding Indium, Open Minded Skeptics and Volcano X from 8pm.

Entry is free for that one.

Lefty and Friends bring their psychedeli­c sounds to The Bank Bar tonight from around 9.30pm.

Tomorrow it’s The Shrinks at the same time.

Songwriter­s Sunday is hosted by Gavin McGinty and Martin Tino Allan from 8.30pm.

Dave Webster’s open mic night is at 8.30pm on Wednesday.

Cherry Bombz are unplugged tonight at Creepy Wee Pub in Dunfermlin­e at 9pm then at Powrie Bar tomorrow also at 9pm.

The pop punk group round off the weekend at a charity Halloween fundraiser on Sunday at the Masonic Hall in Tayport from 4pm.

Entry is £5 on the door and all proceeds go to funding projects in the town.

Miami Vince play smooth 70s and 80s rock at Clark’s on Lindsay Street tonight.

Tomorrow there’s pop gems and rock classics from The DBs.

Both start at 9.30pm with free entry before midnight.

The Sunday Song Club is hosted this week by Swiss Family Orbison buddies Kit, Keith and Gregor from 7.30pm.

Pre-Production welcomes acclaimed singer-songwriter Blue Rose Code aka Ross Wilson on Wednesday.

A musical nomad, Ross eschews any specific genres and addresses themes of love, loss, travel and home with an eclectic mix of folk, jazz, soul and pop.
