Two people have been charged following the death of a pedestrian in Leven on Sunday.

Linda Dunn, 68, was pronounced dead at the scene after she was struck by a car at Riverside Retail Park.

Gregg Anderson, 26 and Tiegan Carruthers, 19, appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court yesterday.

Anderson was charged with six offences under road traffic legislation, including causing death by dangerous driving.

Carruthers was charged with three road traffic offences relating to insurance, licence and the duty to give information about the driver’s identity.

Both were also alleged to have attempted to pervert the course of justice and Carruthers faces a charge of attempted fraud.

Tribute was paid to Linda, of Methil, in a statement issued by her family through Police Scotland.

It said: “Linda will be sadly missed by her family and friends and we respectfully ask for privacy at this time.”

The incident, involving a white Mazda 2 TS2, happened on Aitken Street, near B&M, while it was busy with shoppers at around 3.45pm.

After the fatal collision, which occurred as Linda crossed the road, police issued an appeal for witnesses.

The main road into the retail park was cordoned off by police for several hours following the incident.

Anderson and Carruthers, whose addresses were given simply as Fife, appeared in court in private on petition and were released on bail.

They made no plea and were committed for further examination.
