A pathetic scene was witnessed at Nottingham Assizes when Annie Waldrom, a woman who had lost the sight of both eyes through vitriol-throwing, was led into the box to give evidence against Thomas Radford (37), a collier. She had cohabited with him, but through his brutal treatment left him, obtaining work as a female shunter on the Great Central Railway, Nottingham. Fife’s GP crisis has deepened with the revelation that almost a quarter of the kingdom’s practices cannot take on new patients. Every practice in Kirkcaldy is full, as are others in Rosyth, Dunfermline and Leven. In total 13 practices – 23% of those in Fife– are full. GP shortages are having a knock-on effect for patients who are unable to get appointments. Fife MSP Willie Rennie said: “We have been highlighting this problem for some time but the situation is not getting better.”
