Nature reserve astronomy event

-

Stargazers will have a chance to see nature’s light show in a special event at a Kinross-shire nature reserve,

RSPB Scotland Loch Leven has teamed up with Dalgety Bay Astronomy Club for the event.

The nature reserve is the perfect place to get special views of the night sky due to the lack of light pollution from street lighting.

Stargazing experts from the Dalgety Bay Astronomy Club will be on hand with top equipment to give visitors a tour of the night sky.

Craig Leitch, RSPB Scotland community learning officer, said: “This is such a fascinating event and it’s great to learn about space with such a friendly and welcoming group.

“What a good excuse to take some time out to discover the wonders of the night sky.”

It is not the first time astrology experts have made the most of the dark skies of Perth and Kinross.

The region’s first ever Star Camp was held in Abernethy in September 2016.

The only other such event in Scotland is held in Dumfries and Galloway.

The event on Tuesday is all ticket with limited places available.

Adult tickets are £9 (RSPB members £7), child tickets are £4 (Wildlife Explorer members £2).

To book please visit the RSPB Scotland Loch Leven Eventbrite webpage. Participants are advised to bring warm clothes and a torch.
