A biker killed in a collision with a car near Carnoustie on Friday afternoon has been named by police as 27-year-old Graeme Bell.

The Carnoustie resident died after his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a black Volkswagen Golf on the A930 at Barry just before 3pm.

It is understood the motorbike enthusiast was returning to work at Cupar Motorcycles in Fife from his home when the accident occurred.

His wife Jenni was too upset to speak at her home yesterday but, responding to a wave of tributes posted online, she said: “Thank you so much for all your kind comments. It’s comforting to know he was so well liked and respected.

“He was my world and I was his but there was still plenty room for his passion for his beloved bikes.

“He was the best and he has been taken from us all too soon.”

Cupar Motorcyles director Paul Weinberger said: “He was one of the best employees we have ever had and he was loved by everybody.

“He was very popular. He didn’t have any enemies and he was a very easy guy to get on with.”

Mr Bell had worked at the motorcycle shop, which was closed on Saturday as a mark of respect, for two and a half years.

Mr Weinberger added: “He loved motorcycles and was passionate about the job.”

Posting online, sister Louise Bell described her brother as “one in a million”.

She said: “Seeing all these nice comments makes me feel even more proud to call him my bro.

“Words can’t describe the pain we all feel and doesn’t feel real just now, I’m just waiting for him to call me or walk in.

“Life will never be the same. Love you so much bro.”

Local Independent councillor David Cheape said: “This is the second local death of a young person in a matter of weeks – both in tragic circumstances. “It has an impact on the town. “People are affected by this, clearly. My condolences go out to the family.”

Investigations into the cause of the accident are continuing.

A police spokesperson said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a man who sadly died in a road traffic collision on the A930 near Carnoustie on Friday November 3 has been named as 27-yearold Graeme Bell.

“Mr Bell came from the Carnoustie area, and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.

“Mr Bell’s family have asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.”
