Fife tourism to be championed
Maintaining Fife’s reputation as a top tourism destination will be the focus of a summit at North Queensferry next week.
Tourism chiefs will meet national and local business leaders to discuss new ways of tapping into the region’s potential.
Experts from TripAdvisor, VisitScotland and Two Scots Abroad will be among those addressing delegates at the fifth Fife Tourism Conference, which takes place at the Doubletree by Hilton next Friday.
The tourism industry sustains around 11,000 jobs throughout Fife and is worth around £570 million to the local economy.
Councillor Altany Craik, Fife Council’s convener of the economy, tourism, strategic planning and transportation committee, believes that sharing knowledge is crucial to sustaining the sector’s success.
He said: “Tourism is a thriving industry and big business for the local economy but there are many opportunities for further growth across the sector.
“Our stunning scenery attracts visitors from across the globe, which is creating many opportunities to make even more of our assets by developing existing and new tourism businesses.
“This conference will provide new and invaluable insights that I hope will help us to take tourism forward and help businesses across the region stay on the cutting edge of innovations in the industry.”
