TAPESTRY TALK: Kirkcaldy Civic Society meets in Kirkcaldy Old Kirk at 2pm today, when Lee Bracher will talk about the Great Tapestry of Scotland and how she became involved as a Fife stitcher.

ST ANDREWS: The Friends of St Andrews Botanic Garden will host a lecture by Ali McLeod this evening.

The event, in the university’s chemistry department at North Haugh, begins at 7.30pm and will focus on biologist Marianna North.

Entry is free.

ART CLUB: Glenrothes Art Club is running a four-week painting class, beginning this evening in the Cottar House Studios.

Edinburgh College of Art graduate Gemma Coyle will lead the class, which runs from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

FINE ARTS: Fife Decorative and Fine Arts Society’s next lecture will be at 1.50pm today in Cupar Corn Exchange.

Dr James Taylor’s talk is called Careless Talk Costs Lives: The art of public informatio­n.

COFFEE MORNING: A coffee morning will be held tomorrow in Pittenweem Church Hall, from 10am to 11.30am, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

MUSIC: Kirkcaldy Music Society’s next recital will take place tomorrow.

The event, in the Old Kirk, begins at 7.30pm and will feature jazz pianist Rossano Sportiello.

CHARITY: More than £7,000 was raised for charity as 112 golfers from across the UK took part in the the Rotary Club of Kilrymont St Andrews Internatio­nal Charity Golf Day at Kingsbarns Golf Links.
