Dark Blues regroup to ‘come back sharp’

-

Dundee have used the international break to “regroup” ahead of their crucial Dens Park clash with Kilmarnock at the weekend, according to striker Marcus Haber.

The Canadian forward now wants to see the Dark Blues “come back sharp” in a match that could lift them off the bottom of the Premiership table.

The former St Johnstone man said: “We look at the international break as a positive. It gives us time to rest, regroup, come back sharp and look at how we can pick up points.

“We’ve had a few results on the bounce now without a win.

“The performances are there but it’s about finishing in the final third and keeping clean sheets. You need a combination of the two.”

Dundee’s cause would certainly be aided if they stopped conceding the first goal, which happened again in their last match against Hibs.

Haber said: “Obviously it’s difficult when you go behind in the first minute and you’ve got to regroup.

“We can’t keep giving ourselves a mountain to climb.

“Every player would say the same.

“You try to do your bit for the team, work hard as a unit and we need to stay together when results aren’t going our way.

“We’ve got a good group of players, a deep squad and a manager who is very enthusiastic and very organised in the way he wants to do things.”

Following up his first league goal of the season at Easter Road is an obvious target for Haber.

“You can always improve and want to do more,” he said.

“I’m always hard on myself but I’m sure all players are the same.

“If I’m scoring goals for the team that’s a bonus but there’s a lot more to being a striker than scoring goals. It’s all about getting results on a Saturday.

“We’ve got good enough players to be much higher than where we are.”
