Exhibition hopes to build bridges
Visitors to St Andrews Students’ Association will be given the opportunity to explore their creative side at a special exhibition this weekend.
Organised by local university students, “Life in St Andrews” is a warm-up event ahead of next year’s 10th On The Rocks festival, celebrating some of the town’s top artistic talent.
It will showcase a mixture of painting, sculpture, fashion and film. The programme will also feature workshops on skills such as painting and calligraphy, as well as giving visitors the chance to take part in creative writing sessions, watch theatre rehearsals and listen to live music.
Organisers say they hope the event will help to break down barriers between the university and the local community.
Oli Savage, On The Rock’s head of events, promised Saturday’s event would bring together some of the town’s most creative minds.
He said: “The semester one event is going to be a great blend of immersion and inspiration, bringing together some of the best artists around St Andrews in a variety of media, while also providing attendees with the opportunity to create things themselves, perhaps in ways that they never thought they could.”
The event will take place at the St Andrews Students’ Association, St Mary’s Place, from 12 noon until 8pm with entry priced £5.
