Alan’s wealth of knowledge ... has been a great asset JOHN GREGOR

Aberdeen and Northern Marts has announced a number of changes to its senior management team following the decision of mart stalwart Alan Hutcheon to retire.

Mr Hutcheon will cease working as auction operations manager at the livestock division of north-east farmers’ co-operative ANM Group at the end of December.

As a result of his imminent departure, the mart’s cattle sales manager John Angus has been promoted to the role of head of livestock.

In addition to leading the marts division and auctioneering team, Mr Angus will continue to oversee the store cattle and canvassing of the business.

He will be supported by sheep sales manager Colin Slessor, who has been promoted to the role of deputy head of livestock, while retaining responsibility for the company’s sheep activity.

Other staff changes include a promotion for auctioneer Tim McDonald who takes on the new role of prime and cull cattle manager.

ANM Group executive director John Gregor paid tribute to outgoing auctions manager Alan Hutcheon.

He said: “Alan’s wealth of knowledge and experience working in the livestock industry has been a great asset to the group and we would like to thank Alan for his continued loyal service and wish him well in his retirement.”
