Teenager killed in road crash is named by police

The teenager who died in a Perthshire road accident has been named as 17-year-old Gregor Aitken from Doune.

He suffered fatal injuries when his Vauxhall Corsa was involved in a collision with a lorry on the A 84 between Dou ne and Callander near to Cambusbeg Quarry at around 6.55am on Friday November 17.

The 52-year-old male lorry driver sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow by Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance from Scone for treatment.

Road policing officers responded to the accident along with other emergency services including firefighte­rs and the road remained closed until around 3pm.

Diversions were in place via the A873 in both directions, adding considerab­ly to journey times.

Road policing officers are continuing with their inquiries and anyone with informatio­n is asked to come forward.

Sergeant David Ross said: “Our thoughts and sympathies are with Gregor’s family and friends at this difficult time and we continue to give them all the support and assistance they need.

“I would again appeal for any motorists who were on the A84 on Friday morning with dashcam footage, or who witnessed what happened, to contact police as soon as possible to help with our investigat­ions.”
