Frustration at ‘sheer cheek’

-

Sir, – Sometimes I get very frustrated with the sheer cheek of politicians who try to spin their way out of trouble. They must think that the electorate is stupid and/or have very short memories.

Two such occasions have occurred recently. Firstly, David Davis, who is the chief negotiator for Brexit, said that people should put prosperity above politics.

Well I would like to remind him and everyone else that it was the Tory Party playing politics to satisfy their

own right wing that has got us into this mess.

Secondly, Sajid Javid the communities secretary, has said that governments have not been building enough houses.

Can I again remind him and the rest of us that it was the Tories that stopped local authorities from building council houses, told housing associations that they had to charge an economic rent, cut housing benefit and created a situation where renting from private landlords is the only option for young people.

Javid blames local councils and, as I understand it, the baby boomers for the situation!

The Tories have been in power for nearly 10 years and done nothing to improve the situation.

They treat the electorate as fools at their peril and I can only hope that come the next election they will get what they deserve. Brian Batson. 7 Lour Road, Forfar.
