NEWPORT The festive spirit will well and truly arrive in Newport-on-Tay tomorrow with the Newport Christmas Cheer event.

The annual community event, which involves the lights switch on, a free Santa’s grotto and late night shopping, is organised by volunteers from the Newport-on-Tay Traders’ Associatio­n.

The action gets under way at 4pm and anyone wishing more informatio­n can visit facebook.com/NewportFes­tival. INVERKEITH­ING Inverkeith­ing Arts Initiative is holding a range of craft workshops, including a doll workshop on December 2 and 3 and a cosy owls children’s event on December 3.

Last minute arrangemen­ts are being made for the club’s Christmas art and craft fair. DUNFERMLIN­E Professor Colin Ballantyne will give a talk on the Ice Age in Scotland today at 7.30pm in Dunfermlin­e High School.

It is one of the Royal Scottish Geographic­al Society’s Inspiring People talks. CUPAR From tomorrow until Saturday, Tesco in Cupar will hold its annual foodbank collection for the local Cupar Foodbank.

All donations will be most welcome. TORRYBURN Torryburn History Group next meets tomorrow at 7.30pm in Torryburn Hall.

Rev Ralph Erskine will be the topic of the talk given by George Robertson. DUNFERMLIN­E Social Bite founder Josh Littlejohn will be the keynote speaker at Visit Dunfermlin­e’s fifth annual Carnegie breakfast in Dunfermlin­e tomorrow.

He will be joined by US Consul Susan Wilson. TOWNHILL The Junket Tearoom in Townhill is holding a Christmas shopping evening from 6.30pm to 8.30pm tomorrow evening.

Tickets, which are priced at £1, include a cup of tea and a mince pie.
