A Fife man downed a bottle of Buckfast then went to a shop he was banned from and shouted racial abuse at the owner.

Reece Dorsett’s antics were branded “a disgrace” when he appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

Dorsett, 24, of Ochil View, Lumphinnans, admitted he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner on June 27 by refusing to leave Key Stores, Main Street, Lumphinnans, when requested to do so by a member of staff.

Dorsett shouted, swore, behaved aggressively and made racist remarks.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said the shop owner saw Dorsett come into the store at around 2pm and recognised him as someone he had previously banned. She went on: “The accused told the shop owner that he needed to serve him as it was inconvenient for him having to walk to other shops in the area. He started shouting at him. He said, ‘You can’t do this. This is my country. Get back to your own country’.”

Police were contacted and later traced Dorsett.

“He told them he’d downed a bottle of Buckfast too quickly and was feeling sick.

“He went into the shop for water,” added the depute.

Sheriff Derek Reekie told Dorsett: “This behaviour was a disgrace. Drinking is no excuse.”

He called for reports and Dorsett will be sentenced on January 10. He warned Dorsett: “You better not go back into that shop.”
