Mum screamed during brutal attack at hands of her son

-

A Fife man vandalised his mum’s garden after assaulting her in a previous incident at her home, Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard.

Scott Walker, 39, now of Selkirk Avenue, Cowdenbeath, also stole from a supermarket.

The court was told Walker previously lived at his mum’s house in Ivanhoe Avenue, Lochore. It was there, on June 22, that he first threatened and abused her, shouting and swearing and throwing a remote control at her and pulling her by the hair. On October 31, he again behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, hitting and kicking a door and damaging garden property.

On November 7 at Asda, Halbeath, he stole a quantity of CDs and was in possession of a knife.

Depute fiscal Carrie Stevens told the court Walker had been living at home at the time of the June incident and was listening to music when the phone rang.

His mum answered and asked him to turn down the music while she spoke to the caller.

The depute said Walker was angry at the request and followed his mother outside, where he shouted and swore at her and grabbed her by the hair.

She screamed and this attracted the attention of a passerby, who called the police.

Police were called again on October 31 after Walker showed up at the property and wrecked garden furniture.

Walker admitted all the charges against him.

Defence solicitor Selina Mackay said her client suffered from learning disabilities and was on a community payback order imposed in May.

Sheriff Craig McSherry called for reports and Walker will return to court to be sentenced on January 10.
